Join the Central Section of CA APA for an exciting program and in-person tour featuring the City of Fresno's first BRT line along the Blackstone/Ventura/Kings Canyon corridor! Presentations will focus on the challenges and opportunities associated with planning and implementing the BRT from the ground-up. The tour will provide an opportunity for planners to become familiar with biggest transit investment in Fresno’s history, including the Ticket Vending Machines, riding the BRT, and learning about the multiple planning processes involved to bring local and regional land use and transportation goals to fruition.

BRT Program from 3 – 4:30 p.m. at the Fresno Council of Governments (FCOG) Sequoia Room*

Tour of the BRT from 4:30 – 6 p.m. from Downtown to Manchester Mall and Back

Optional: 6 – 7 p.m. – Informal Networking at Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant on Fulton Street

Optional: 7:05 p.m. – Fresno Grizzlies Baseball Game at Chuckchansi Park against Sacramento River Cats (join the DARM Planners at their “Enjoy a Night at the Grizzlies Event”)

*Park in the Fresno COG underground parking structure (entrance at the corner of Tulare and Van Ness). Be sure to hang on to your ticket to receive validated parking for the whole event. 2035 Tulare Street, Suite 201, Fresno, CA 93721*

  • Welcome remarks by Greg Barfield, Transportation Department Director (FAX), and Dan Zack, Assistant Planning Director (DARM)

• Speakers:

o Keith Bergthold, Fresno Metro Ministry, and Kristine Cai, FCOG – History and Timeline of BRT Planning Process

o Jeff Long, FAX – Planning and Implementing the BRT from the Transit Perspective

o Dan Zack and Sophia Pagaloutos, DARM – Incorporating Mixed Use and TOD Zones along the BRT Corridor into the General Plan Update

o Keith Bergthold, Fresno Metro Ministry – Revitalizing the Southern Blackstone Corridor through Complete Streets and Economic Development

BRT Tour, 4:30 – 6 p.m. (cost of BRT transit ticket to be covered by FAX)

• Walk to Van Ness in-line BRT station; ride to Manchester Transit Center on BRT with FAX and DARM planners

• Disembark BRT at Manchester Transit Station

o Ice cream and Presentation by Moe Bagunu, Manchester Shopping Center Director, at Manchester Mall about the major investments at Manchester

• Ride BRT back to Van Ness station

Optional Networking: 6 – 7 p.m. Happy Hour at Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant: No-hosted bar
