Escape the Valley heat, participate in the Saturday morning planning program, and enjoy the beautiful lake setting with the companionship of family and fellow planners at Sequoia Lake. Campfires, hiking, boating, fishing, rope course, and relaxing all await you!
An AICP-credit eligible professional development program will also be included on Saturday. This year's program will feature "Beyond LAFCo 101," led by Fresno LAFCo Executive Officer David Fey, in which he will describe the multi-faceted role of LAFCos in California. There is a local agency formation commission in each county, some are departments within county government, some are independent of the county. LAFCos were created by the legislature in 1963 as planning and regulatory agencies managing the boundaries of cities and special districts, but have grown to include governance audits of these local agencies.
