CenCal APA welcomes Section members to help shape the future of planning in Central California while ensuring services to members are provided year round by joining a committee of their choice. Current standing committees are described below including ways to indicate your interest. We thank you for your interest!

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

At the direction of CenCal APA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator, the DEI committee gathers throughout each year to promote and increase diversity and support efforts of Section members to create more inclusive and equitable communities. In partnership with the Director for Professional Development, Director for Membership and Public Information, YEP Coordinator, and Student Representative(s), the DEI Committee strives to provide forums and opportunities for Section members to network, share ideas, and bring recognition to unique values and perspectives. To indicate your interest in joining the committee, contact the DEI Coordinator at diversity@cencalapa.org

Marketing and Communications Committee

The Marketing and Communications Committee is a collaborative effort by the Director for Membership and Public Information, Newsletter and Social Media Coordinator, and Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator with the goal to coordinate the Section’s media, engage in partnerships, and promote Section activities with our membership. Each year, CenCal APA’s Awards Coordinator welcomes enthusiastic and energetic individuals willing to dedicate time to our profession by serving on the CenCal APA Planning Awards Jury. As a Juror, you will review and evaluate some of the finest planning work within the Central Section and then confer with other jury members to determine the type of award. Call for jurors typically occurs between January and February each year, with jury selection and award determination in March. CenCal APA welcomes representation from different areas of expertise, geographic locations, and professional experiences in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. The goal of the committee is to work with the Sierra Retreat Coordinator to develop the program theme, identify speakers and facilitators, develop ideas for merchandise that generate excitement, revenue, and higher attendance, provide input on pricing and sponsorship amounts, help recruit sponsors, develop and promote advertising materials, and set up and maintain registration lists, among many other activities to ensure a successful and well attended event. Planning for the Sierra Retreat typically begins around March-April each year. For more information, visit www.cencalapa.org/sierra-retreat.
