Joel is currently an Analyst at Fresno LAFCo, where he works on annexation projects and municipal service reviews for cities and special districts across the county. He began his career with the agency as an intern, gaining valuable hands-on experience that helped shape his professional interests in local government and regional planning.

Joel earned a Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning with a minor in Geography from the California State University, Fresno. He plans to pursue a master’s degree and obtai AICP certification in the near future to further advance his career in the planning field.

His interest sparked in giving back to the planning community after receiving the California Planning Foundation scholarship for the California Central Section. That experience motivated him to serve and support students and young professionals. He now serves as the Young and Emerging Planners Director, where he is dedicated to sparking the interest of other young professionals, especially in the region he proudly calls home. Joel is passionate about fostering interest in the planning profession and is committed to helping the next generation of planners make a positive impact in their communities.
